Learning Management System or simply
LMS is a backbone on which e-learning process is based.
It is both the infrastructure and database,
which allows to obtain a rapid assessment of knowledge and skills of each
individual employee and to ensure effective control of the learning process
of the organization.
It includes testing and reporting sub-systems, which makes it possible
to evaluate and analyze the degree of professional competence of staff
and effectiveness of the learning process in the organization.
|
LMS is necessary to solve the following:
- provide learning content to the right people
at the right time;
- control the usage of learning resources;
- manage learning process of individuals
and groups;
- reporting the learning process;
- evaluating of current and gained skills;
- planning any kind of learning and schedule
individual plan;
- evaluating effectiveness of the learning
program.
|
On the one hand LMS serves as a access
shell for a user to the content of curricula and courses, on the other
hand, it allows the training administrator to provide highly responsive
control of the learning process in the organization as a whole. This
is achieved through the system rights access separation.
Employees are personally register
and receive a personal username and password. Eventually, they receive
access to educational resources and their learning statistics. LMS registers
the user name, his passed courses, the start and end of each course, earned
scores from pre-testing and testing after completion of the course.
Administrator rights can control
over access to the educational content, organize students into groups provide
common course, monitor the use of courses, scores earned, the analysis
of skills gaps and plans for further development and employee training.
In addition, LMS enables the administrator
to generate reports through the whole learning process, which allows
to draw conclusions about the effectiveness of investment in training.
In the case of large-scale training projects LMS supports integration with
enterprise resource planning and human resources management systems.
Currently we provide following learning
management systems:
- IBM Lotus Workplace Collaborative
Learning 2.7
- LMS Acadex v2.0
As a solution for managing the learning
process, LMS must be able to run various courses issued by different vendors.
To this end, the industry has developed special standards for interoperability
- a set of technical specifications for the creation of educational web-content.
It is widely known and used standard SCORM (Sharable Content Object Reference
Modeal), as well as ISM, AICC. Thus, to complete all modules of e-learning
system it must support the same standard.
